Why was Ricardo Plus activated automatically on my account?
If you already had Buyer Protection+ (MoneyGuard) active, Ricardo Plus may have been activated automatically so you can benefit right away. You can deactivate it at any time from your account settings.
Is Ricardo Plus really free?
Yes. Ricardo Plus is 100% free. There are no hidden fees, no subscription, and you can deactivate it whenever you want.
Will there be more shipping fee discounts in the future?
Ricardo may offer similar promotions in the future for Ricardo Plus users.
If I activate Ricardo Plus now, do I get the fee discount on listings I already created?
Yes. What matters is the date of the sale, not the date when the listing was created. If the sale is made while you have Ricardo Plus active and the buyer chooses Buyer Protection+, the discount will apply.
Can I decide not to offer Buyer Protection+?
Buyer Protection+ (MoneyGuard) is activated when you activate Ricardo Plus. However, it’s the buyer who chooses whether to opt for this protection when placing a bid or completing a purchase.
For you as a seller, this doesn’t require any extra action. You simply give your buyers more choice and flexibility. Offering this option helps build trust and can make your listings more appealing, especially to buyers who prefer secure payment.
What happens to my protected listings and sales when I deactivate Ricardo Plus?
When you deactivate Ricardo Plus, Buyer Protection+ (MoneyGuard) is automatically removed from all of your open listings. However, it will remain active in the following cases:
- Auctions with Buyer Protection+ where at least one bid was placed before you deactivated Ricardo Plus
- Sales made with Buyer Protection+
These exceptions are in place to protect the buyer, who chose Buyer Protection+ at the time of bidding or purchase, a choice that cannot be changed afterward. Buyer Protection+ will remain active on those listings until the sale is completed.
