Starting 1 April 2026, sellers can qualify for different 10% discounts on the selling fee.
If several conditions are met for the same sale, discounts will be combined.
Important :
- Discounts apply only when an item is sold.
- Multiple discounts may apply to the same sale.
- The total discount cannot exceed 100% of the selling fee.
- Discounts cannot be paid out separately.
- Les réductions ne sont pas appliquées rétroactivement.
10% discount when starting an auction at CHF 1.00
You qualify for this discount if:
- Your listing is an auction
- The starting price is CHF 1.00 or lower
The discount still applies if:
- The auction includes a Buy now option and the item is purchased via Buy now
- The auction ends without a sale and a buyer later makes an offer that you accept
You do not qualify if:
- The listing is Buy now only
- You first list with a start price of CHF 1.00 or lower and then edit the listing, increasing the start price.
Example
You list a jacket in the Fashion category (12% selling fee) starting at CHF 1.00. The auction sells for CHF 120.00.
Selling fee: 14.40
10% discount: -1.44
Final selling fee (rounded): CHF 12.95
10% discount when the item is purchased with Buyer Protection+ (MoneyGuard)
You qualify for this discount when:
- Your item is purchased with Buyer Protection+.
Buyer Protection+ is available to your buyers if you activate Ricardo Plus. They can choose to protect their purchase when buying or placing a bid.
For more details, see Selling fee discount with Ricardo Plus
Example
You sell a gaming keyboard in the PC & Gaming category (12% selling fee) for CHF 200.00, and the buyer chooses Buyer Protection+.
Selling fee: 24.00
10% discount: -2.40
Final selling fee (rounded): CHF 21.60
10% discount on every 5th sale
Every 5th sale qualifies for a 10% discount on the selling fee. Sales are counted starting 1 April 2026.
Important:
- If the 5th sale is cancelled, the discount does not apply.
- If a previous sale (before the 5th sale) is cancelled, the discount on the 5th sale still applies.
- What counts is the number of sales you make, even if some of them are later cancelled.
Example
Your 5th sale is a collectible figurine (12% selling fee) sold for CHF 80.00.
Selling fee: 9.60
10% discount: -0.96
Final selling fee (rounded): CHF 8.65
10% discount for high-volume sellers
You qualify for this discount if your net revenue (revenue after sale cancellations) reaches CHF 100’000.00 or more over the 12 months preceding an evaluation date. Your eligibility is reevaluated twice a year, on March 15th and September 15th.
If you meet this threshold, you receive a 10% discount on the selling fee for each sale, applicable only to sales made after April 1st or October 1st, for a period of 6 months.
How your net revenue is calculated
Your net revenue is based on your sales over the last 12 months. Cancelled sales are deducted from your revenue at the time of cancellation, not when the sale was originally made. This means your net revenue may decrease if sales are cancelled.
Vehicle product types
For the following product types — Cars, Commercial Vehicles, Caravans, and Motorcycles — only one sale counts toward your net revenue over the 12-month period: the highest-value sale that was not cancelled.
Net revenue calculation example
You sell the following items within 12 months:
- Laptop: CHF 1’200.00
- Sneakers: CHF 150.00
- Car: CHF 8’000.00
- Caravan: CHF 12’000.00
Your net revenue is calculated as:
- CHF 1’200.00 (laptop)
- CHF 150.00 (sneakers)
- CHF 12’000.00 (highest vehicle sale only)
Total net revenue: CHF 13,350.00
Example
You sell a designer handbag in the Fashion category (12% selling fee) for CHF 300.00.
Selling fee: 36.00
10% discount: 3.60
Final selling fee: CHF 32.40
Combining discounts
If several discounts apply to the same sale, they are combined.
Exception: the 5th sale discount cannot be combined with the high-volume seller discount.
Example
You are not a high-volume seller and you sell a collectible trading card:
- Auction starts at: CHF 1.00
- It becomes your 5th sale
- The buyer chooses Buyer Protection+ (MoneyGuard)
Selling price: CHF 120.00
Selling fee:
12% × 120.00 = 14.40
Combined discount (30%):
14.40 × 30% = 4.32
Final selling fee (rounded): CHF 10.10
How the selling fee cap works
The selling fee is:
- capped at CHF 290.00 per sale
- subject to a minimum of CHF 0.10 per sale
Any applicable discounts are calculated before these limits are applied.
If the calculated fee after discounts is:
- above CHF 290.00, the maximum fee of CHF 290.00 applies
- below CHF 0.10, the minimum fee of CHF 0.10 applies
Example with a maximum cap
You sell a gaming laptop for CHF 4’200.00.
Selling fee:
12% × CHF 4’200.00 = CHF 504.00
10% discount on the fee:
CHF 504.00 × 10% = CHF 50.40
New calculated fee (rounded): CHF 453.60
Because the selling fee is capped, the final selling fee remains: CHF 290.00
Other discounts
Additional discounts may apply as part of limited-time campaigns and can be combined with the discounts described above. The total discount cannot exceed 100% of the selling fee.
