Listing items on Ricardo is free, except in the Vehicles category, where a refundable listing fee may apply under certain conditions. A selling fee only applies when your item sells.
Before you can start selling, you’ll need to meet a few basic requirements. Here's what they are – and how to complete them quickly.

1. Domicile in Switzerland or Lichtenstein
If you live in Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you can jump straight to step 2.
If you live outside Switzerland or Liechtenstein: Unfortunately, private individuals based abroad cannot sell on Ricardo. Only registered, professionally verified businesses may sell from outside Switzerland.

2. Registered user account
You’ll need an active Ricardo account. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.
3. Confirm your email address
Right after registration, you’ll receive a welcome email. Click “Confirm registration” to verify your email address.

4. Confirm your phone number
Once your email is confirmed, log in and complete your profile. Enter your mobile number to receive a confirmation code via SMS.
5. Identity verification
Before you can create listings, you’ll need to verify your identity. This is required to ensure your sales are legally valid and secure. You have two options:
- Online verification: Upload your ID directly in your Ricardo account
- Activation code: Sent to your Swiss or Liechtenstein address by A-Post

6. For private sellers: Activate Ricardo MoneyGuard
Ricardo MoneyGuard protects both buyers and sellers with secure, fast, and easy transactions.
Buyers pay securely via TWINT or credit/debit card
Ricardo holds the payment temporarily
Funds are only released after the item is received and confirmed

7. For professional sellers: Add your VAT number
Ricardo collects VAT on sales to Swiss buyers and transfers it to the Swiss Federal Tax Administration (ESTV). To enable this, we need:
Your correct business details
A valid Swiss VAT number
